Argentine ports

The development of the ports contributes to the economy of the nations, since these have an important participation within the international commercial activity, given that 82% of this activity flows through maritime transport.

Undoubtedly, the growth of the Argentine grain port activity is in tune with the greater agricultural production. However, it can be observed, as is logical, that the areas of location of the same remain unchanged through the times; this responds to the basic principle of the convenience of the physical aspects of the areas that are adapted for the creation of a port:

  • That allows the control of the waters either by nature or by the action of man for the safety of the ships in their stay.
  • That good navigation channels are available for a better exchange.
  • That is close to the production or commercial areas.

At present, ports are no longer just a safe place to load or unload merchandise or embarkation and disembarkation of passengers, but this area of land and water also includes an infrastructure that allows a fast and comfortable transshipment of merchandise or passengers, deposits that have spaces for an adequate flow of loads, rail and land routes under conditions, competitive rates, etc.

Finally, the present work aims to present a summary and update the main data of the Argentine grain port infrastructure and its geographical location.
